Predictions Netizens Made About 2015 That Were Proven Wrong

With so many surprising changes over the past year, it was nearly impossible to predict how things would turn out. Here is a list of netizen predictions that were proven wrong over the year:

Hyeri would ruin Reply 1988 with her terrible acting

Many thought that Hyeri would be a one-hit wonder due to her viral aegyo video, but she has proven that she has the skills required for success in dramas as well. She had tough shoes to fill after being cast as the lead role of Reply 1988 after Go Ara and Eunji starred in the first two. However, Reply 1988 has broken records for cable TV dramas, with the most recent episode reaching 15.4% viewership.

Girls' Generation would fall apart after Jessica left

While many thought that SNSD would be unable to continue without Jessica, SM has continued to promote and release albums with the group. This year, the group released an album, Taeyeon had her solo debut, and the Taetiseo subgroup also had a comeback Christmas album. Total sales of their albums for 2015 reached nearly 400,000.

Seventeen would flop as rookies

Just another giant boy group? Not at all. Seventeen only debuted this year, but the 13-member group has the #8 best selling album of the year among all groups. The album, "Boys Be", sold over 106,000 copies, putting them ahead of industry veterans like VIXX, f(x), B2ST, and even Girls' Generation.

EXID would not be able to follow up the success of Up Down

After Hani's fancam went viral last year, EXID was given a spot in the limelight. They were able to follow up their success with "Ah Yeah," which has over 32 million Youtube views. "Up Down" has 38 million views, while their latest single, "Hot Pink", has reached over 11 million views. Definitely not a one hit wonder!

That Red Velvet shouldn't have added Yeri

Yeri was added to Red Velvet in March as the 5th member of the group. Although many were against the addition of a new member, Red Velvet continued their success with "Ice Cream Cake," and later with "Dumb Dumb." Yeri nicely rounds out the group and fills in what the other 4 members lacked.

That Wonder Girls would never come back

One of the original groups of the second generation of K-pop, the Wonder Girls have been a household name in the industry for years. However, after a failed US debut, their popularity had largely waned back home in Korea. But JYP decided to bring them back with a retro 80s pop-esque song, which has been fairly successful, garnering over 11 million views on Youtube.
