K-pop music videos being taken down due to Youtube's new paid subscription service

In a shocking move that enraged k-pop fans worldwide, Girl's Generation's Gee was removed from Youtube for terms of use violations. The video, an iconic, sentimental staple of kpop fans worldwide, was approaching 150 million views and was one of the top viewed kpop music videos on Youtube.

Youtube recently announced that their paid subscription service, Youtube Red, would be available for $9.99 a month and allow ad-free, offline video viewing, in addition to other features.

Although the video has been put back up, fans were quite worried that the iconic song would be permanently removed.

  1. I really don't see any positive effect this YouTube Red brings, except of course that Google and YouTube profit from it. Videos of different users get taken down at any time. Not knowing the effect it brings to the viewers. Sigh. This site could be handy: http://beupon.com. BeUpon keeps an eye on your videos online, sends you updates via SMS. You can also backup the videos so you won't lose anything. Check the site for best deals!
