f(x) confuse K-pop fans with ridiculously complex music video for '4 Walls'

The music video for f(x)'s latest song, '4 Walls', has been released and has captured the attention of fans and pretty much all k-pop listeners worldwide. Although the song is a catchy, chill EDM earworm reminiscent of Shinee's View from earlier this year, the music video has left fans puzzled.

In the music video, all four members wake up in the same bedroom, but none of them interact with each other. Krystal opens the door to the fridge, obscuring our view of her. As soon as it closes, Amber is standing there. These kind of visual illusions and tricks continue throughout the video, leaving viewers at a loss to explain what is going on. The video continues with Amber dropping a teacup on the ground, shattering it. After that, Krystal begins pouring tea onto the table, which eventually spills onto the floor. Victoria comes in, slips and falls on the wet floor, then is suddenly transported to an alternate forest dimension. The other members are all also in this dimension as well.

Some have speculated that there is a duality between Amber/Krystal and Luna/Victoria. Victoria and Luna are trying to save each other while Amber and Krystal are trying to hurt them. Near the end, the lamp next to Krystal has a skull and crossbones logo on it. Luckily, Victoria wakes up then runs and catches the cup before it shatters on the ground, preventing any future disasters.

Others have said that Amber is the cause of the chaos and that Krystal, Luna, and Amber are trying to escape and return to reality. However, other netizens believe that the confusing music video is just a marketing ploy by SM Entertainment to gain more views as people rewatch it to figure out the meaning. I gotta say, it's working.

Check out the music video below. What's your interpretation?
